Cannot send emails to Microsoft (Hotmail, Outlook and Live.com)

I have recently bought VPS with a new IP address (146.59.239.142) which is by default blacklisted at Microsoft and I need to register it with Microsoft Smart Network Data Service to whitelist it, otherwise I cannot and will never be able to send emails to Microsoft (Hotmail, Outlook and Live.com).

Registration from https://sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/snds/addnetwork.

Since 4th of this December, Microsoft has changed its policy as they wrote here:

https://sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/snds/index

Stating that: SNDS will now require authentication when approving or denying network access, adding an extra layer of protection.

When you try to register your IP, it shows the following email address (and asking to authenticate this request):

abuse@ovh.net
abuse@server.ovh.net
postmaster@ovh.net
postmaster@server.ovh.net

And because I can't access any of those emails, I can't proceed with the registration.

I have posted support ticket since 3 days but OVH support team didn't answer until now.

What shall I do? Please anybody help me?

Ouch. This web site from Microsoft is broken !

https://sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/signin-oidc might have a temporary problem or it could have moved.

Error code: 500 Internal Server Error

Thanks for your reply.

It is working fine from my side.. just click the link.

Please see attached screenshot for my request.

The mailbox abuse@ovh.net is known to be unmonitored.
There is probably an auto-responder there.

I remove my request then add it with another email but to no avail.

I have tried all OVH e-mails since 8 days.

Please raise an incident from your OVH customer portal and show the ticket number here.

This usually isn’t something you can fix on your own. Since the IP belongs to OVH, only they can confirm ownership through those abuse/postmaster addresses. Your best options are:

  • Keep pushing OVH support and clearly ask them to confirm the IP in SNDS on your behalf.

  • In the meantime, use an external SMTP service (like a transactional email provider) so you’re not blocked by Microsoft.

  • Avoid sending directly from that IP until OVH resolves it, or Microsoft may keep rejecting it.

Unfortunately, without OVH’s involvement, SNDS registration won’t go through.

I have contacted OVH support before posting here.

It took them 5 days to reply to my support request.

And unfortunately, the answer was not OK.

The only good thing was that I have to configure my reverse DNS through their dashboard and not manually in DNS entries as I did earlier (see info here https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-ie-vps-configure-reverse-dns?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0047596).

Then, I have went to Microsoft support forums and an MS employee guided me to the solution.

The details are here in case somebody else needs it: https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/dedicated-server/troubleshooting/microsoft-blacklist/.

Because MS JMRP form is broken (and I have contacted MS for that). I have sent a support request for MS (for the 9th time) but this time I replied to their automated message (this is the trick) with details about the issue and then an MS support technician helped delist my IP manually which solved my problem.

Thank you for the feedback.

I missed the point that you didn't declare a PTR for your server. This is a mandatory step in order to authenticate the ownership of an IP address.
