Hello,

How is it possible that when I analyze the links on my website, several of them were created automatically (and have nothing to do with my site)?

How can I remove them and ensure this doesn't happen again?

Have a great day.

Hello,

Has your website been hacked in the past ?

Hey @Léa Duvivier

Yes, it seems that your site has been hacked. I will specify some possible causes and how to fix it.

Third-party plugins or widgets: Many plugins (e.g., social media widgets, analytics tools) can introduce external links, sometimes unintentionally. Review your plugins and their settings carefully. Consider disabling or removing any plugins that you don't actively use or that might be introducing unwanted links.

Hacking or malware: In some cases, malicious code can be injected into your website, creating hidden links or redirecting users to other sites.

Outdated themes or templates: Outdated themes or templates may contain vulnerabilities or outdated code that can lead to unexpected links. Update your theme or use a reputable and well-maintained theme.

How to Remove Existing Links:

  • Manual inspection: Carefully review your website's HTML code, looking for any suspicious links (e.g., links hidden within JavaScript, links to unexpected domains).
  • Use a link checker tool: Many SEO tools (like Screaming Frog SEO Spider) can help you identify and analyze all the links on your website.
  • Use your website's search function: Search your website for specific keywords or phrases related to the unwanted links.

If you want to prevent future problems, I recommend you regylarly audit your website, choose reputable plugins and themes, monitor your server logs, uhmmm... and if it were posible, implement strong security measures.

I hope this helps!
