Migration Tool Complete Failure As well As All OVH Support

I have been struggling completely with trying to get basic answers and solutions from OVH.

There is no other options available to me, apart from do this. I cannot even speak with a manager, I cannot complain to anyone, there is nothing available to me right now. The Support guys on the phone are rubbish and do not help me whatsoever, they constantly give misinformation.

**I first wrote this email to OVH on 18th January 2018.** This was sent from my person email as I cannot upload attachments to the support portal online, the attachment showed the error.

Please find attached error when ever I try and upload a pst file and migrate it to my mailbox. Right now I am currently doing testing to make sure that I am able to migrate over to you once I move my domain to you guys. I have tested this with multiple pst files and tested it with multiple mailboxes which I have created as per a test.

Please could you get this sorted out as I am stuck without this.

Would you let me know once this problem is resolved.

P.S Plus its in French which doesn't help

I got no reply for 3 days so I rang the support guys they assured me they would reply. I waited 4 more days no reply. I rang the support guys and they assured me of getting back to me. I then spoke with Sales and said this is crazy who can I send a follow email to, the sales guy on the phone said send it in and I will get someone to deal with this.

**I then sent the following email on the 25th January 2018**

FAO Michale,

We have been struggling with the support side of OVH over the last few months. We are extremely unhappy with the way support is handled.

Not only have we been misguided in regards to information given out from your support guys, we have seen a diminishing service with support.

I have spoken with the support guys, there are 3 in total, and now there are 4 of them. Hue who I have spoken to countless times, unfortunately does not have the knowledge nor the experience to deal with half of our requests. He has really no idea when concerning lots of different things. About the FTP, multi sites, dns, migration tools etc. These are basic things. He has even given wrong information to us. We have had issues with wrong or misinformation from the guys in support. From one guy saying one thing and another saying something else.

We were told that the mail migration tool is perfect for moving a domain from one provider to another. If we want for OVH to host the domain, emails and be the registrar, we were instructed to do the following. Backup emails from current registrar, move the domain to ovh, add email hosting to the domain, recreate mailboxes, upload pst file to the migration tool.

The migration tool does not work when you try to upload a pst file it has errors. I wrote an email about this and knowone has got back to me, once I called the support guys they didn't even know which email i should send too, I got bouncebacks and then had to ring back and ask for another email address, I sent along with screenshots which was from personal email address as opposed to control panel ticketing as you cannot upload images to send.

If I would have gone ahead with what the support guys would have said, without the migration tool not even working then my client would have been without emails. I cannot re create the mailboxes first then do a migration as there is no domain to create a hosting plan against. I cannot point the mx records and a records to OVH, as then the ms exchange with the current host does not work. So essentially either I am missing something or it is currently impossible to move a domain to OVH that already has emails hosted against it, unless you want loss of data. I explained this countless times to Support guys to no avail. Nothing has been done and no one has come come back to me with a solution.

Additionally it takes some times up to 20 minutes to get through to anyone in support. I normally ring after 15 - 20 mins mark i hang up and ring back later.

I would appreciate if this email is acknowledged and for something to be done.

To migrate your emails from one email address to the same email address you will have to schedule a downtime.
It's impossible to migrate the emails without setting up the domain and mailboxes first, that's why there was an error in the migration manager.

The only way to make it work without moving the domain first, would be to set up mailboxes for another domain and do a migration per email address manually, then migrate again after setting up the proper domain and mailboxes.

I just re read what you said in your email:

Let's break this down

Your statement the only way to make it work without moving the domain first: THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH YOUR CURRENT SYSTEM. If you were to move the domain first and re create the mailboxes that would leave you having to upload an pst file yes ?? Uploading the pst file does not work!!! I have tested this several times with as to quote from my first email from today " I ran a test with a domain that is already with you. This domain I created a mailbox. I then tried to proceed to upload a pst file to that mailbox using the migration tool which failed. So to clarify I already have a domain with you that I use as a development domain. This domain is hosted with you for emails and website, it is registered with you. I created a mailbox and used a pst test file I created and still it did not upload." HENCE THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK !!!!



So currently method 1: move the domain to ovh host website and emails with ovh: Now upload pst file, does not work as it fails every time.

So your next statement above, 1. we have already established you CANNOT MOVE THE DOMAIN FIRST AS YOU CANNOT UPLOAD A PST FILE.

Does this mean the following:



I would need to set up mailboxes for another domain currently in OVH, then use the migration tool to import emails to this temp domains mailboxes, then I would need to migrate the hosting and emails of the original domain into OVH. Once this is complete I would then need to migrate emails from the temp domain mailboxes to the destination domain mailboxes.



I would really need for you to clarify if this is correct as to what you said or if maybe if I missed something.



If this is correct then you must be crazy, do you know how long that would take to do, that is doubling up time, plus any additional downtime. Secondly if this is the case, what the hell is the point of the migration tool then, it simply does not work, you cannot upload pst files as this fails as stated before, and you cannot migrate from your domain with another provider into ovh !!!! It makes absolutely no sense.

So are you telling me this is what your best effort is to tell one of your customers after I have had to wait for 2 weeks. So your telling me when customers want to move hosting to OVH this is what they have to do??
What happens if they don't have a domain already with OVH then what ?? makes no sense....

Things I need doing:

1. A proper solution to my issues.
2. Who do I complain with, why does it takes 2 weeks to get a reply, why does it take over 20 minutes to speak with anyone on the phone.
3. I want to speak with an Area Manager I am sick of going back and forth with support guys who don't know what they are talking about.

So all in all I have had no solutions to issues what are affecting me in the last two weeks. No one has actually got back to me with a proper solution and now I have to wait who know how long. Why is there no complaints department, why is there only 4 guys working on support, actually 3 guys working on support?

Will someone get back to me please !!!............
