Hope this helps someone because I've seen a lot of questions about this on Twitter.

Please note this was dedicated to dedicated which come with backup storage by default. My VPS's don't show as selectable IPs in the burnt server's backup storage tab. This could be because they don't come with backup storage by default so don't have the capability without it being switched on (more cost!) or because VPS to dedicated may not be possible. I don't know, but if anyone else tries and does VPS to VPS or VPS to dedicated, please let me know and I will update.

Update - it seems your dedicated must be in the same country as the original server to take advantage of this process and VPS to SBG dedicated won't work.

1. Purchase a new OVH dedicated or VPS server in a different datacentre
2. Add the OS from mirror via server control panel - in my case Centos 7
3. Once new server is prepared go back to old server control panel and click backup storage tab.
4. Press 'Add an access'
5. You should see IP of new server in 'block concerned' list. Select it and check FTP box - this will give FTP access to the remote back up to the new server. Click next and you should see it processing, wait until it goes to green 'enabled'.
6. Make a note of your backup storage name and ID. Reset the password if you have to (will be sent via email)
7. Login to new server as root. (root pw will be sent once OS is installed)
8. Install lftp: **yum -y install lftp**
9. Log in to remote backup: **lftp username@backupname**
10. Enter password when prompted as sent via email
11. Enter command to ignore hostname check on SSL: **set ssl:check-hostname no**
12. Use command to see what's in your backup storage: **ls** or **cd dirname** to change remote directory (standard commands)
13. Use command to get a file: **get filename**
14. Download backup file from new server to your local machine via SFTP client (I like Bitvise as it has SFTP file manager built in to its SSH console).

Further instructions for lftp can be seen here: https://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=CentOS_7&p=ftp&f=2

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the update. RBX so still in France. I will add this to the info. Anything else you find out please let me know and I will update.

Thank you very much David, I believe that I was able to successfully proceed up to item 12. It seems that in the target there are only .banner and .ftpquota files. No directories to cd to. What did you see in your case when you ls your backup ftp server home directory?
regards, M0

Hi David, what about a Windows Server, can you help me? I bought a new VPS in Gravelines (GRA) - Francia, my old server was in Estrasburgo (SBG) - Francia. I add the new VPS IPBLOCK to FTP Backup Store via API. I see de IP in my control panel but it says is IN PROCESS, 2 days. I request a ticket but no response by this issue. Thanks.
