Purpose of ssh authorized key "generated-by-nova"

Hi all,

There is an authorized ssh key in my public cloud instance that is labeled "generated by nova".
Could somebody tell me whats the purpose of this key and if it's safe to delete it.
I imagine that this key is aimed at managing the server but doesn't it pose a security risk ?
