Hi everyone
I would like to point out that I have never tried installing a dedicated server from a Windows image provided by OVH because my current dedicated server use the old free version of vmware esxi.
Is it possible to install a Windows image on a fresh new dedicated server without renting the OVH license and use our license or is the use of the image tied to the rental of the license?
I hope my question is understandable.
Thanks.
Michele
Hi@MicheleM3 ,
Thanks for your question, yes it's possible to install a Windows image without renting an OVHcloud licence.
If you need more informations you can check this guide : https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-gb-dedicated-servers-getting-started-dedicated-server?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0043475
Thanks and have a nice day,
Hello
I follow your advise but the "install my server" wizard doesn't allow me to select a Windows server edition, except for Hyper-v 2019. It ask me to add the license from OVH control panel.
Now i have a couple of chance : try install W2025 from KVM (drivers permitting) or install Hyper-v 2019 and after in-place-upgrade to 2025.
