My Use Case for Test Ubuntu servers is Task-based: add a Server, do a Task, migrate it (Task software solution) to my Production Server and delete the Server. Some Tasks require a subdomain, not just an IP address, so I am trying to use a Failover IP to point my test subdomain to. With the hope of being able to easily move that Failover IP to each new Test Server that I add.
But when I look in /etc/network, I see no "interfaces" file, so I am not sure where to add (or replace) the Failover IP address.
Update: I found this documentation being pointed to when I made a change to my Failover IP address, but it too implies that /etc/network/interfaces exists prior to the recommended changes. Leading me to believe that the OVH configuration may ignore it.
