Hi all,
I have a recurrent problem that happens occasionally with the email.
From time to time, the password of my email account stops working.
The problem can be temporarily solved by doing one of the two following actions:
- Wait from 2 to 6 hours. The email starts working again without any intervention from my side.
- Go to the OVH Control panel and change the password of the email account.
When the problem happens, I cannot access to my email account through any means: nor with my email client, neither with the webmail or even with the email client in my phone.
The problem is recurrent. It has been happening for the last 3 years. At the very begining it was happening each two or three months, but then it started happening more often. Now it can even happen sometimes twice a day. There are weeks when the problem does not happen at all, but others, like this week, that I have the problems several times in one week.
Changing the password is an operation that takes time, since I have to change to a new password in the OVH control panel, and then go through all the clients (mobile phone, and computer) and change it it there.
Can you help me? Could it be someone trying to enter my account and asking for a password reset or something like this?

This sounds like you are having some sort of network attack or cyper attack.
I would open ticket with OVH directly or give them a call.

Since a few weeks we get the message from microsft outlook, (but alos on mail on iphones) that the password is incorrect. Even if we change it on ovh, it keeps saying this. And this 20 times a day, and sometimes not.
Very strange, we had this in tha past also, but after a while the error dispaears, now it doe not stop anymore, and even in between sometimes mails comes in. I really think there is omething strange happening with this service at OVH? May we have a reply please ?

You omitted to mention what hosting is involved: MX Mail, or Pro, or Exchange, or Zimbra ?
With some of them, a protection is raised after 10 failed login attempts. If someone else (or a device you own...) is attacking your mailbox (bruteforcing with random/invalid passwords), you may be denied access even when the password is correct.
This number of attempts (10) is configurable from your customer area, in the mailbox properties.
