Hello,
I have just bought a dedicated server: "ADVANCE-1 | AMD EPYC 4244P".
I'm looking to install via an iso vmware esxi on my server through the KVM because the option is no longer available natively. My ISO works because I've already installed it on a physical server at home. At the time of loading (when the server reboots and I boot onto the virtual cdrom) the iso does not load completely and I return in a loop to the boot page. I've tried with a debian 12 ISO and windows server 2022 (though heavier) and it works.
I've tried with vmware 8 or 7 iso's, still the same. I've also tried checking the boost media box with no result.
Has anyone had the same problem, or managed to install vmware esxi recently?
thanks in advance

Hi, I found myself in the same problem as you. I have others OVH Dedicated server and we could install esxi in all of them, that is, right up until now. OVH does not offer support on this because it says KVM ISO installation is not supported for their team... So great OVH, I don´t think I will rent any server again. Also, I´m stuck with a 6 month server that is useless.... Thanks again!
I have the same issue, OVH support please help us
I hope this helps you all!
I’m the only one who has managed to solve this issue, and so far, no one else has posted about it. That’s why I’ll be the first to share the correct solution because I’ve successfully done it.
To keep using ESXi, the first thing you need is an ISO that includes the correct drivers. I’ve prepared an ISO specifically optimized for OVH servers.
The ISO is: ESXi-8.0U3sb-24262298-nvme-usbnic
Link: Download ISO Custom ESXi-8.0U3sb-24262298-nvme-usbnic
This version contains all the necessary drivers to ensure a successful installation.
Steps to Follow:
Disable Secure Boot:
Make sure to disable Secure Boot from the BIOS options, as this ISO will not work if Secure Boot is enabled.
KVM Compatibility:
I’ve successfully installed ESXi from:
Therefore, you can ignore the information in the following article:
KVM Compatibility for Installing OS on OVH, which claims that the web version of KVM is not compatible for this purpose. I’ve tested it myself, and it works!
I hope this guide helps you solve your installation issue. If you need more details, feel free to ask.
Cheers! 🚀
