Creating an unlimited phone line to landlines and mobiles on a Grandstream HT802 using a fixed phone

Hello,

I see that you offer telephony solutions for individuals but I'm not sure I understand what's possible or not.

Here is my need:
For an elderly person, I'm looking for a solution that creates a landline (she no longer has one) where a large RJ11 corded phone can be connected to call both landlines and mobiles. All of this within an all‑unlimited calling subscription.
Note: The house is equipped with a fiber installation that has no fiber box plugged in because internet is not needed.

I saw your Grandstream HT802 device which supports classic RJ11 telephone devices.

Is it possible to create a landline on this device with unlimited calls to landlines + mobiles? What would be the price?

If this is not possible with just the Grandstream HT802, what would be the solution and at what price?

Note: a mobile plan option is no longer feasible due to a disability (hence the large‑button fixed phone).

Thank you.

Hello,

The solutions offered by OVH require having an operational internet connection. At the end of the fiber that arrives (for example) in the garage, you have probably installed one or two boxes on the wall, but they currently serve no purpose, just like an electrical cable or a pipe that leads nowhere.

You therefore need to subscribe to an internet provider, who will also supply a box or a router.

If mobile coverage is good, you might consider acquiring a 4G router, such as this one (Amazon France link)

Hello @Nell

First of all, all OVH telephony solutions require an Internet connection, whether it’s 4G, 5G, ADSL, cable or fiber.

I wonder if the solution could simply be a small mobile phone (very basic, and without Internet) with a SOSH or FREE plan for €2 incl. tax per month.

The cherry on top:

  • Low cost: €2 incl. tax per month
  • The elderly person can keep the phone in their pocket and won’t have to rush to answer the FIXED line.

Note 1: Personally, I have both FREE and SOSH plans for €2 with unlimited calls.

Note 2: While I was looking for up‑to‑date information, @fritz2cat beat me to it.

Note 3: I can’t find the free option on SOSH that I was lucky enough to use to go from 2 h to unlimited calls.

The most immediate choice would be a big‑button mobile phone; there are plenty of more or less reliable comparisons, for example https://www.lemeilleuravis.fr/téléphones-portables-à-grosses-touches

First, thanks to Gaston and Fritz2cat for taking the time to answer me.

Ok, I understand. OVH sits on top of a fiber (or 4G) subscription taken from a third‑party provider.

Thanks again.

Hello @Nell

Be careful when buying these basic phones.

If there is an SMS function, it’s often a hassle to read them and delete them.

She doesn't use SMS at all. She doesn't even know it exists…

It's already become a problem just to pick up the phone, so SMS is far too complicated.

It's really the fourth age, with everything it entails causing completely fried neurons. And making her do exercises is pointless.

Thank you.

The experience in my family shows that, indeed, the "simple phones for the elderly" remain too complicated to use, sometimes more complicated than regular phones

We could suggest a GSM(*) ↔ analog interface gateway (I don't have time to look up a reference right now) allowing the use of any phone with small or large keys. With a cheap mobile plan as suggested by Gaston.

(*) GSM to be taken in the broad sense of mobile network (UMTS 3G, LTE 4G, 5G, 6G, 7G etc)

Attention, 3G may disappear soon.

Yes, yes, I saw. Thank you.
