Hello everyone,
A client for 20 years I was charged a double amount of what I have been paying for 20 years, without explanation, without notice, but support does not respond (ticket since July 2 with no activity), no human being available!
Does anyone know how to resolve this absurd situation!?
Thank you
Philippe
Hello @Phil49
Which subscription are you referring to?
Hi @Phil49,
As Gaston rightly says, it would be ideal to know what type of accommodation we’re talking about to understand what might have happened, although obviously for more details you should expect the billing team to respond to you via ticket.
Hello,
If it’s a shared hosting, you must have received an email around mid‑April with the subject: “Our web hosting offers are evolving!” which isn’t a good sign in marketing jargon.
“This evolution aims to simplify our catalogue, bring you more value and continue improving the experience we offer you daily.”
In short, prices have more or less doubled, without fundamentally changing the service offered.
It also contains information that still needs to be verified:
- A rethought and reinforced support service
To offer you ever‑more efficient assistance, we are gradually rolling out new contact channels. This includes, in particular, online chat and phone‑back callbacks, as well as 24/7 availability, in addition to other support improvements. https://blog.ovhcloud.com/fr-webhosting-2026#support
In short, we were warned.
Good evening,
Thank you all for your answers; I finally managed to find the phone number on the website and was able to speak with administrative customer support and then technical support...
In fact, for 20 years I paid for my domain name and my hosting on the Perso plan back then, and I shut down my website about… 10 years ago, and I had kind of forgotten about this…
Now, what made me jump is the 100 % price increase, which after explanation turns out to be due to infrastructure upgrades and AI (I’d say at least 80 % AI!!)!
I have absolutely no need for that, so I asked if I could get rid of my Perso hosting since, as it happens, you can’t downgrade to a lower tier, but to do that you have to “unlink” the two services (by the way they’re still charging another €20; crazy!!) and then I’ll have to follow a long tutorial to delete the hosting...
After that I’ll only pay for the domain name.
But because I have a Windows domain with my own (virtual) servers at home, I absolutely need my domain name and DNS records since I also have my own Exchange server.
I was assured that after the “unlinking”, I won’t have any issues regarding those services, which are supposedly well isolated.
My subscription was renewed on July 1st, so I asked OVH if they could make a commercial gesture after 20 years of contributions paid in full and no request for their help since then!
I was told that I need to submit a written request in that regard, which I have done…
I will follow the long tutorial to unlink and hope that OVH’s finances will allow a small commercial gesture…
Philippe
Hello @Phil49
I gather that you don’t keep close track of the various invoices and associated charges.
Same applies to the informational emails sent by your providers.
That said, it’s never too late to do a little cleanup.
Hello,
I must admit that for several years I thought I would resume using my website in another form, but then it fell into oblivion...
10 × 40 euros for OVH has been more than profitable; if they don’t make any commercial gesture, I’ll draw my conclusions, especially since I’ve just been charged €16.80 for having done the only necessary technical operation myself to “unlink” the hosting email before its closure, I suppose...
Too much, it’s like being charged for using a gasoline pump to fill up...
I hope they won’t still try to extort me for €16 for this second operation...
Hello,
You're being pretty harsh, though.
OVH is asking you for a one‑time payment to keep the email addresses linked to your domain (email previously linked to your hosting).
I think you haven't really kept up with the pricing changes of other providers these past years
No offense intended, I understand that getting a price hike isn't pleasant, but OVH is indeed one of the few remaining players that doesn't charge annually for mailboxes.
