I have a "PERSO" plan that dates back to 2006 (1000 GP at the time, I think). I experienced an OVH bug in 2008; in six different directories I have total_octets and total_requetes files owned by the user "root".
Unless I’m mistaken, I have no way via SSH, or even PHP, to delete these files and folders that pollute my space with a "PERSO" plan. Do you have a solution?
I opened a ticket and received the following response: OVHcloud cannot provide further assistance on requests related to service configuration/content; if you need additional help on this matter, we suggest contacting a webmaster who can assist you in this area.
The cost of my plan has risen by 250 % in two years, with certainly many more services, but I have no use for them. With such an answer I’m considering going elsewhere. OVH client since 2003.

The Personal offer indeed does not provide SSH access, but as an exception, support can raise the issue with your written confirmation stating that you are unable to delete these files/folders.

I also got a 1000gp “free for life” at the launch of .BE, it was a promise from Octave.
This promise is still in my archives.
I still have some root‑owned “UFOs” in my hosting (folders: requetes, private‑vpn), all dating from 2008 or earlier, but they take up no space and don’t give me nightmares.
However, going from zero to €6 / month is an increase of +ထ (division by zero).

Indeed, hosting FREE FOR LIFE with a slightly more limited space for buying a .eu in 2006.
In June 2024 I was at €31 incl. tax per year and now in 2026: €86 incl. tax!
I don’t care about 4 extra databases and 100 GB. The lower‑tier offer without databases and only 1 GB doesn’t interest me.
This shift in commercial policy… what is it? A multitude of small customers that are increased considerably to pay for the big cheap‑VPS customers ???? Yes, I’m looking elsewhere!
So yes, the 12 files in question that are in the root and can’t be deleted don’t weigh anything. But I like things tidy.
Getting the response I received on my ticket right after such an increase makes me leap!
