Hello,
I have a functional MX Plan (Roundcube) but I am unable to configure IMAP or SMTP access (Outlook, business software, etc.).
I tried imap.mail.ovh.net or ssl0.ovh.net as well as smtp.ovh.net or ssl0.ovh.net for sending.
Using SMTP 465 or TLS 587 with SSL validation.
Username: the email address and its password.
Outlook tells me it cannot reach the server and my business software reports invalid authentication.
Is there a setting where IMAP and SMTP need to be enabled?
Best regards
Hello @GrandLieu
By default, an OVVcloud address can be accessed via webmail: https://mail.ovh.net/ or through an email client: https://docs.ovhcloud.com/fr/guides/web-cloud/email-and-collaborative-solutions/mx-plan/landing-page-mx-plan#configurer-un-logiciel-de-messagerie
Feel free to update the password of the email address before attempting a synchronization. Passwords are often the cause of these synchronization issues

Hello,
The password is being verified because I’m accessing it via webmail. When using an app like Outlook, where I have to connect through IMAP and SMTP, it doesn’t work. Are the password rules the same?
Best regards
If your password was accepted during validation and it works in your client area, it should also be accepted by your email client.
Be aware that if you are using Outlook, you need to use the classic version. Have you followed this documentation? https://docs.ovhcloud.com/fr/guides/web-cloud/email-and-collaborative-solutions/mx-plan/how-to-configure-outlook-2016

Hello,
I solved the issue by changing the password in my client area. I managed to log in (with a non‑blocking invalid certificate message).
It seems that the password was corrupted on the IMAP and SMTP servers but not on Roundcube and the console ???
Have you ever encountered this case?
Best regards
Hello,
There may have been a “dangerous” character at the computer level such as an accented letter.
What were the special characters in your old password? \ * ^ & ?
Hello,
only uppercase, lowercase, numbers and -

so no idea... Good thing you found the answer
Hello @GrandLieu
Everything points to a desynchronisation between the authentication systems used by Roundcube and those used by the IMAP and SMTP protocols. It’s as if your password was updated in one database but not in the other, and the manual change from the client area forced that synchronisation (as @Asterix mentioned).
If Outlook shows you a non‑blocking certificate error, you can ignore it; it’s common with self‑signed certificates on ssl0.ovh.net.
If you see the problem persists, open a support ticket and mention this detail so they can check the synchronization of the services.
