Notifications for VPS maintenance

Yesterday all my VPS restarted at some point. I had no warning (like an email) regarding that event. Is there any setting that I can change that I can be informed about planned (or unplanned) issues with one or more VPS-s?

I have seen there is a https://www.status-ovhcloud.com/ but that is quite high level, I can't easily assess if an issue there will affect a particular VPS.

Hello,

An urgent security patch is indeed being deployed without any alert.

I get now why it happened in this case (security issue), and the fact that the alert can be almost at the same time as the restart, but there would still be value in the alert.

Just to take my case: I got a warning from my system at 21:00 that one server is down (requires encrypted key to mount certain service, so in case of server restart it needs external intervention). No problem, I perform the manual action, server is back up in 5 minutes. But I had no idea why it happened, or if it will happen to the other servers. I look a bit around, found no information, and I assume it was an individual host problem. Next morning more servers have the same issue, so I investigate more and get now that all servers will probably be restarted...

One email warning per VPS saying "watch-out, in the next days expect a reboot due to an issue" is all I would have expected. Yes, might be a bit hard to decide the threshold for the messages (there is a team working on the networking of the whole data-center - should we inform every VPS?), but if you reboot the host (or unplug it, or many other things) it will definitely be an impact so it could be announced.

I personally can work with this (I just need some adjustments in my other alert so that I don't get noticed only the next morning), but needing to go to the forums to find out what happens will be quite annoying to many people and give a bad impression of the service, if there was a reasonable alternative (inform of what is happening).

Hi @vladms73609, I’m also experiencing major issues because of this update. In my view, OVH could build a simple alert app that you log into with your own credentials. If one or more VPS of the logged‑in client get involved in something, a clear notification would arrive—much more attention‑grabbing than an email that sometimes even ends up in spam.
