The latency for connections from Australia to Singapore servers is extremely high.

Normally, the latency for connecting from Australia to Singapore should be between 90-120ms, but I'm currently experiencing latency as high as 400ms. Here's traceroute:

As you can see, this is an extremely absurd path, from Australia to the United States, then to France, and finally to Singapore, where the latency exceeds 450ms.

Your traceroute clearly shows a suboptimal routing path through the US and France before reaching Singapore. If the problem persists, could you please provide some additional technical details to help the community investigate:

  • A MTR (My Traceroute) test results, ideally run for 10-15 minutes. This provides much more stability data than a single traceroute.

  • Does this happen regardless of the local ISP you use in Australia?

Yes, the network problem persists.

To my knowledge, this problem only occurs on the Optus network in Australia.

As can be seen from the diagram, the path from the server back to Optus goes through AS6461, which means that the data will detour through the US, which will greatly increase latency.
