Using Zimbra with a free hosting offer

Hello, I subscribed to a free hosting / Zimbra starter offer. I use Thunderbird and everything works fine. For webmail I use Roundcube. I’d like to explore Zimbra but I don’t know how to get started. When I go to https://www.ovhcloud.com/fr/mail/ and log in, I end up on the Roundcube webmail. Thank you for your attention and have a good day.

From your client area, the path is as follows:

  1. Log in to your OVHcloud client area.

  2. At the top, make sure you are in the Web Cloud section.

  3. In the left column, expand the menu and click Zimbra Mail.

  4. You will see your Zimbra service there. Click the name of your email account.

  5. On the page that opens, you will see a button or link that says Webmail. Click it and the Zimbra interface will open in your browser, where you can sign in with your credentials.

Go to your OVH client area and look in the Mail section.

It does appear that your mailbox is not hosted on Zimbra. Is this mail hosting called, for example, “MX PLAN 1 HOSTING”? In that case it isn’t a Zimbra‑type hosting, which explains the presence of the Roundcube webmail.

Note, free Zimbra mailboxes are included with the reservation of a new domain name, not with hosting.

@sturpin I have already followed the steps you shared with me. I arrive at a page where I am offered to “Order your Zimbra accounts”. The “Order” button remains greyed out after accepting the Terms of Service and ordering a Zimbra Starter account.

On an invoice from 25 June 2026 it says Zimbra Starter subscription monthly pricing pro rata: 6 days (25/06/2026‑30/06/2026) No commitment.

On an invoice from 02 June 2026 it says:

  • Zimbra Starter installation. Zimbra Starter subscription monthly pricing (25/05/2026‑24/06/2026) No commitment.
  • Section Hosting: Hosting Free (start100M)
  • Section Domain Names: Domain .fr crocus-permaculture.fr

Start100m is associated with a Mail hosting: MX Plan Hosting 1

It is a Roundcube mailbox and not Zimbra.

If you have just subscribed to a domain name, by default you have the option to activate:

Your first message indicates that you subscribed to a Zimbra Starter offer, so here’s how to set up this offer:

Step 1 of 5: Go to your client area,
Step 2 of 5: Click on Webcloud at the top of the menu bar,
Step 3 of 5: Click on Zimbra Mail then on “Organization” then on “+ Add an organization”.

You will need to define the organization’s name and choose an organization label; this information helps you identify it when you have multiple Zimbra offers.

Step 4 of 5: Then go to the “Domain” category, and click on “+ Add a domain” to add your domain name.

Step 5 of 5: Once the domain is in place, I invite you to go to the “Mail account” category to create your email address by clicking the “+ Create an account” button.
