Bonjour,
Hello
I’m adding a comment in case someone can help me
I’m experiencing exactly the same problem
- Opening Chrome takes forever
- Opening my SQL Manager, you have to be patient
- Opening a simple folder on the desktop, pffff
My sites tend to lag on certain features
I contacted OVH support, they made me run some tests in rescue mode but nothing abnormal for them
A speed test
- 0.3 KB/s download
- 30 KB/s upload
I’m far from the 400 Mbps of my plan
If anyone has an idea, I thank them
Hi @ChristopheT39 ,
On Windows as well?
The generic advice in this kind of case to start the diagnostic is to look for CPU “steal” time, which would indicate that another VM on the same host as you is abusing resources.
For the rest I don’t know Windows at all, so I’ll hand it over to the others.
Hello,
No one has any idea, I don’t know what to do..
I just ran 3 tests :
- Speed test with IIS and SQL Engine running
- Speed test with IIS removed
- Speed test with SQL Engine + IIS removed
The results are relatively identical even though I haven’t installed anything else on my Windows server.
The performance is terrible, right?
With the information we have, it’s difficult to say for sure, but the most likely cause is an incorrect network configuration on your VPS.
I recommend following these steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:
- Check the network configuration on your VPS → Make sure the network settings inside your Windows VPS don’t have bandwidth limits or an incorrect static IP configuration. Have a look at this guide.
- Review and configure NIC Teaming (if applicable): If your VPS has multiple network interfaces, set up NIC Teaming by following OVHcloud’s guide for Windows Server. This will bundle the interfaces to improve performance and redundancy.
If the above steps don’t help, use OVHcloud’s rescue mode to isolate the problem. This lets you boot your server with a temporary operating system and run network tests, which will tell you whether the issue is software‑ or hardware/VPS‑related.
Hello,
Did you try these tests in rescue mode to rule out a possible Windows issue?
If the problem persists, you should request a host change; sometimes support will accept.
Hello.
The ping to my new VPS is very high, reaching up to 250 ms, with constant packet loss. Furthermore, the number of hops exceeds 20. Could you help me resolve this issue?
I opened a ticket on June 29, but I still haven't received any response. Since then, nothing has changed.
Hi @schamen
While you wait for support to reply, I suggest you perform the following checks:
- Sometimes the issue is not your VPS, but the route of your internet connection. You can use external tools like ping.pe to check latency from different points around the world.
- Run a traceroute; this tool shows you the path data packets take to your VPS and indicates where the biggest delays or losses occur. If you see that the problem occurs at a hop within the OVH network (for example, an IP that starts with 10.), then it is an issue they must resolve.
- Make sure there are no firewall rules blocking or limiting ICMP traffic (the one used by ping) or causing other connection problems.
Regarding your ticket, I suggest you kindly reply to the ticket itself, asking about its status.
Let me know, cheers.
Sergio Turpín
As you can see in the screenshots, significant packet loss is observed on the OVH side of the network.

Hi @schamen
Since incidents like this, especially those affecting the backbone or network routing, are more complex and rarely can be resolved by an end‑user, the most effective thing is to reply to the ticket you have open and attach the full MTR results you captured.
Do you have the VPS in production, or were you just testing?
Kind regards.
