[WordPress / Web Cloud Databases] Is Valkey available with my hosting, and how can I get the connection parameters?

Hello,

I am looking for a factual answer about the resources actually included in my OVHcloud contract.

Configuration concerned:

  • Exact hosting offer: Agency + Web Cloud Database
  • OVHcloud shared web hosting;
  • WordPress;
  • PHP extension phpredis already loaded;
  • PHP extension Memcached also available;
  • Web Cloud Databases instance visible in the Manager: [YES/NO];
  • engine currently displayed in the Manager: [TO SPECIFY];
  • OVHcloud ticket opened since July 29: [TICKET NUMBER, OPTIONAL].

I know that the presence of the PHP extension phpredis does not mean that a Redis or Valkey server runs locally on the hosting. My question only concerns the server service that this extension can connect to.

The current OVHcloud documentation states:

  1. that certain offers, notably Performance, include a 512 MB Web Cloud Databases instance;
  2. that Web Cloud Databases now offers Valkey among the available engines;
  3. that this solution is compatible with OVHcloud web hosting;
  4. that the WordPress/Valkey tutorial uses a remote connection with hostname, port, TLS, user and password.

My questions are therefore the following:

  1. Does my offer actually include a usable Web Cloud Databases instance with the Valkey engine?
  2. If an instance is included but is currently configured as MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, can it be converted or reprovisioned to Valkey?
  3. If Valkey is available with the included instance, where can I find in the Manager:
    • the hostname;
    • the port;
    • the TLS mode;
    • the user;
    • the authentication mode;
    • the network access rules applicable from my shared hosting?
  4. If the included instance cannot be used with Valkey, which exact offer must I order to have a persistent object cache accessible from this WordPress hosting: Web Cloud Databases Valkey or Public Cloud Databases for Valkey?
  5. Is the “Allow OVHcloud web hosting to access the database” permission sufficient, or do I also need to declare an outbound IP specific to my hosting?

I am not asking for assistance to install WordPress or configure a plugin. I only want to identify the resources provided with my contract and the technical connection details for the corresponding Valkey service.

Yes, the Agency plan does allow the activation of a Web Cloud Database offering:

Yes, it is possible to delete the offering and reactivate it with the management system of your choice, and thus Valkey. However, a service interruption will be required to expedite the removal of the current offering so you don’t have to wait the 30‑day service suspension period.

All of this information is located in the general information section of the Web Cloud Database offer.

For your OVHcloud hosting to access this offering, the “Allow OVHcloud web hosting to access the database” option must be enabled.
If you wish to access one of your databases from outside (an external IP address outside OVHcloud), you will need to whitelist that IP address.
