[Idea box] Back to school: Help us shape tomorrow’s documentation and guides! 📚

Hello everyone,

When the school year starts, it means new resolutions and new projects! At OVHcloud, our goal for the coming months is to keep offering you the best possible experience on our help centre (docs.ovh.com).

We know that documentation is your first ally when you start a project, which is why we need your feedback on three specific areas:

:one: Existing guides: Are there any guides you find outdated, incomplete, or unclear?
:two: Missing guides: What tutorials or use‑cases would you like to see fully documented from A to Z (e.g., specific deployments, security, hybrid architecture)?
:three: Experience and features: How could we improve your documentation browsing? (e.g., one‑click copyable code snippets, short videos, dark mode, different navigation tree…)

There are no bad ideas! Share your constructive criticism and wishes in reply to this thread. We will compile your feedback and forward it directly to our documentation team.

Get typing, and once again, happy back‑to‑school to everyone! :rocket:

Hello @FabL!

For the mail account synchronization part on email clients, it would be great to have a tool that helps with synchronization; here's how I imagine it working:

1- The tool asks which address to synchronize,
2- Ideally it would automatically detect the service behind the email address (Mxplan, E‑mail Pro, Exchange) or, alternatively, ask a second question "What is your mail plan?" with a tip to locate the corresponding plan.
3- The tool then asks which email client you want to use (Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.)
4- The tool then displays all useful information:

  • Sending/receiving server, ports, video tutorial and the complete guide with all the steps to follow
  • It could even show MX, SPF and SRV indicators to show whether the domain name of the email address is correctly configured for sending and receiving emails.

I don’t know what you think?

Hi @FabL

Interactive testing area for the API

It would be great to have a feature that allows testing API calls directly from the documentation, with authentication included, without having to leave the page.

For those of us who automate tasks, it would save a huge amount of time.

Greetings, community! :waving_hand:

Hello @sturpin,

Thank you for your suggestion. We share this ambition, even though no project is currently under development. Rest assured, the community will be kept informed of any progress on the topic. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @FabL

If no project is currently under development, perhaps you could focus on the small current issues.

In particular, fixing the current bug on the forum regarding the need to reconnect frequently.

There was absolutely no problem until last week, whether on an Android smartphone or with a browser on Windows 11.
