Bonjour,

Je voudrai migrer mon adresse MX plan vers E-mail pro. J'ai bien lu les guides sur les migrations mais aucune des manipulations ne fonctionne :

  • J'ai acheté une adresse E mail pro, mais elle n'apparait pas dans "migrer le compte"de mon mail MX plan
  • J'essaie de changer le nom de mon mail MX Plan pour pouvoir en créer une dans E-Mail pro, mais il me propose de changer uniquement la description du mail.

The original message was about migration problems between two email plans, while you are commenting on aliases and MxPlan.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Yes, that's right, it's a migration of an email account from MX Plan (5 GB) to a Zebra mailbox (15 GB). The OVH procedure says to rename the alias of the email address on the MX Plan so you can free up that address and create it on the Zebra account. The problem is that there’s no option to rename the alias on the MX Plan. Thank you.

In this case, the direction must be reversed. Follow these steps:

  • In the new Zimbra account, if the mailbox you are migrating is called, for example, info@..., name it info2@...
  • Launch the migration from OMM, since the two accounts will have different names and there will be no conflict
  • Once the data are properly migrated in the Zimbra account (which is called info2), you can delete the one in MxPlan to free up the name "info".
  • Once you make sure it is deleted, you can rename the Zimbra account from "info2" to "info" and continue using it.

As such, you don’t have to modify anything about "alias" in the Zimbra account; just make sure the organization is created and the domain added.

Then in the Zimbra accounts list, click the three dots on the right > Edit. There you can customize the account name and choose one of the domains you have previously added to the platform.

I think I’ve understood the point of confusion.

The term “alias” is commonly used to refer to the account name, but an alias serves a different purpose, more like an alternative name for an email account.

It’s important to differentiate the nuance: the instructions I’ve given you are for changing the account name; you don’t need to add or create any alias.

It’s important to understand this because if you start adding aliases, the configuration can become complicated :sweat_smile:.

So, in ZImbra, when you click the three‑dot button you’ll see on the right side of the account, don’t click “alias” but click “edit” or “modify”. That will act on the primary account, letting you change its name whenever you want.
