My offer includes anycast DNS but what is its appeal compared to normal DNS?

Apparently to have a very fast DNS propagation across the planet.
In 99.99% of cases I would say it’s unnecessary, but maybe I missed something :slight_smile:

Hello,
I would like to remove this anycast option.
The guide explains how to subscribe to it, not the opposite.
I suppose we need to change the DNS, but which ones should we use?

The purchase of a DNS Anycast offer replaces the default DNS servers to use :confused:, feel free to open a support ticket and provide me the ticket number so I can check internally and send you the correct DNS servers to use!

There are laws in France that require service providers to verify their clients’ identity in certain areas. It’s the legislator you need to complain to…

If OVG asks you all that, it’s probably because they didn’t have all the information yet.

Yes, absolutely, because you just need to skip paying for the option and the domain will revert to a normal DNS (in any case, that’s my experience when I retrieve this option in my manager that a client had selected).

I have been an OVH customer for 20 years and I don’t recall OVH ever asking me for any proof of identity or residence when placing an order, so I have every reason to think there is no such requirement for the sale of domain names and hosting. By the way, you yourself #Sich, have you provided these documents?

Moreover, asking for these documents for a simple request to remove an option—requested by the domain administrator—is, to say the least, curious!

I continue to think there is another motivation behind this request, presumably to discourage it, given the low financial impact and the time lost in providing these documents.

So I will do like TTY and wait for the renewal to avoid paying for this option.

Attention @Driver not to confuse with an ongoing procedure on the domain.
There you must provide the requested documents or risk suspension of the domain.
It has already happened to me that I provided clients' identity cards to OVH.

There is a whole legal framework that requires technical intermediaries to carry out certain checks depending on the products, the risk, etc., etc...
