For the past week, I’ve been unable to send emails from my Thunderbird mail client.
Here’s the error message:
Sending the message failed.
The outgoing server (SMTP) does not appear to support encrypted passwords. If you have just set up the account, please change the "Authentication method" to "Normal password" in the "Account Settings | Outgoing Server (SMTP)" menu. If it worked before and now fails, please contact your mail administrator or provider.
I haven’t touched this account’s configuration in Thunderbird for months.
Before trying from your third‑party client, feel free to do a send/receive test directly from the OVHcloud webmail: https://mail.ovh.net/
If sending works, you’re most likely encountering a synchronization issue or an SMTP limitation.
If sending doesn’t work, it would be worthwhile to open a support ticket, and in that case feel free to post the ticket number right here
