I've been installing OS on my dedicated servers via IMPI and mounting an .iso file for a while now and while it's not lightening fast I can usually get a XenServer (or xcp-ng) install through in about 30 minutes. However in the past week is has been going really really slowly - what was taking 30 minutes is now taking around 10 hours! - I've tried from different locations including from a server inside OVH with the same results.
Any idea why it's running so slowly or even a better way to install the OS?
Hello Mark,
Issue can be with other infrastructure and to verify that, we need to run tests on the IPMI module first which then can help us find the root cause.
Please make sure to contact support though a ticket to investigate in depth.
Thank you for understanding.
Hello,
We have the same issue with IPMI , it is very slow ( less than 1 mbps ). Even we can not install our iso file . Many times contacted support , they try to help but every time we have a different idea … Till now no success !
Hope someone can help us with this situation , thanks .
Same here, We never had problems installing XenServer on our machines via remote ISO mount. It took about 30 minutes to install. But now the install has been taking more than 3 hours and is still stuck at 2%. This is absolutely unworkable!
Also, I had already reset the IPMI after my first install attempt today and rebooted the server, when it's IKVM ISO mount seemed strangely slow. I also tried running the iKVM and mounting the ISO from a Windows VM on our OVH XenServer platform. No difference at all.
Just tested ISO upload speeds (ikvm and ipxe) on rack G128B18 and G137A14 in GRA 1. Bot slow as an elephant on a tricycle uphill. To me it looks like OVH has throttled the throughput of remote ISO mounts. Not good. How am I supposed to install ISO's now?
Anthony, Adam, ca you look into this?
Hello All!
With the cooperation of @LukeR we have identified a issue which was likely causing the bad speed on IPMI. If you still experience issues please submit a ticket individually as it could be an isolated issue.
Thank you @LukeR for submitting a ticket to help us investigate.

@MarkH Glad to hear it works!
If it does happen again even in other DC, just submit a ticket and we look into it.
We apologise for the inconveniences caused.

Cheers Adam,
Nice to have IPMI remote ISO streaming speed back to normal again!
Now.. any chance you can launch the non JAVA - HTML5 IPMIs on all dedicated servers? (Then I can ditch my Windows / IE / Java control machine).
Best regards,
Luke
Hi @ImperialbrandB,
I also can't say I'm in love with the IPMI Java console, it's a pain w.r.t. the Java permissions, the JNLP that I need to manually start/enable on MacOSX 10.12/10.13, and yes, it appears "bloated"… the "problem"? It's the SuperMicro motherboards (which OVH uses) that is "providing" that as a service, and if ou want to have more fun with that SuperMicro interface: try it on oldish hardware with expired SSL certificates ;(
@AnthonyR, I also would love to have an interface like the ProxMox noVNC, but I suspect for the reasons mentioned above, it's not a feasible solution unless SuperMicro and OVH develops something together to replace this Java client
it's happen in BHS 6 DC, and here is the response to the ticket I received from tech support
> Thank you for contacting OVH regarding your IPMI installation. It will be my
pleasure to assist you.
>
> I would not be able to assist you in regards to the IPMI installation as OVH
does not support custom installations. Perhaps your ISO is having issues or it
is not well optimized?
>
> However, I can always recommend that you install your OS via the OVH installer
with one of our templates. Please let us know should you have any other
questions.
