MX Plan: mailbox never receives incoming email (outgoing OK, DNS OK, no forwarding)

Hello,

My mailbox contact@muriel-vesiez.com (Email MX Plan / Zimbra Starter) does not receive any incoming email, and has apparently been like that since its creation: the only message present in the mailbox is a non‑delivery report (NDR) dated May 5, with no real email received.

Context: initially my activity was on muriel-vesiez.com, then I moved my site to actisantepro.com.

What I have checked:

  • DNS for muriel-vesiez.com is correct: MX (mx1/mx2/mx3.mail.ovh.net), SPF, DKIM present.
  • Mailbox active.
  • Sending from the mailbox works.
  • No redirection configured (0/1000).
  • Emails sent TO contact@muriel-vesiez.com go out without error but never arrive (neither in inbox nor spam).

Could the domain be "non‑authoritative" for email? How can I verify and fix this?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
The MX Plans are either Zimbra Starter or the legacy offering with Roundcube.
What does your client area say in the MX Plan tab? Zimbra or Roundcube?

Depending on the platform, the redirects are to be configured in your client area, either in the webmail.
These redirects allow the original email to be deleted.

Make sure to check both sides before claiming that you haven't set up a redirect.

Hello @muriel1972

I just sent you a test email and it was redirected to a Gmail address.

Since your mail offer is a Zimbra Starter plan, here’s how to set up and edit redirects from the webmail: https://mail.ovh.net/

Step 1 of 3: Click the :gear: button at the top right of your webmail window.
Step 2 of 3: Click Settings.
Step 3 of 3: Click the Filters section from the settings window.

Astérix

Hello,

I’m getting back to thank you: problem solved, and it’s thanks to you!

As you suggested, I went to check directly in the Zimbra webmail filters (Settings → Filters), and not only in the client area. I found a filter named “Gmail Forward” that, as soon as an email arrived, automatically forwarded it to a Gmail address without keeping a copy in the OVH mailbox, then stopped any further processing. Result: the mailbox seemed to receive nothing, while the emails were actually immediately forwarded elsewhere.

It was enough for me to disable this filter for reception to work normally again.

Thank you enormously for your valuable indication — without you, I was looking in the wrong place. Have a very nice day!

Kind regards,
Muriel
