Calendar issue and new Outlook with IMAP MX Plan account

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with meeting invitations in the new Outlook and an IMAP MX plan email account.

The user receives the invitation but no item is added to the calendar, and there is no accept/decline button.

I read that this is a limitation of the new Outlook, which does not handle IMAP accounts optimally.

Is there a way to work around this without reverting to a classic Outlook version? The user already has several mailboxes on the new Outlook and everything works (Exchange 365 account and Gmail accounts).

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

As you say, an IMAP‑type server does not handle calendars.

Your problem therefore must lie in the configuration or features of your Outlook.

Outlook has always been a product to avoid when implementing an IMAP‑type server.

If you can, choose Thunderbird instead, which requires neither purchase nor a usage licence, and is better.

Thank you for your feedback.

The issue is that this user uses the new Outlook for all his mail accounts (Exchange, Gmail) and therefore wanted to add this IMAP account to the new Outlook..

Apart from moving all mail accounts to a classic Outlook I don’t see a solution. (No problem with a classic Outlook because the calendar is managed locally for IMAP mailboxes)

I even tried with a hosted Exchange account at OVH but the configuration isn’t possible; you need a Microsoft 365 Exchange account, there’s no option to choose an Exchange Server account as you can in a classic Outlook… "third‑party"

The problem is that Microsoft is leaning towards forcing the use of the new Outlook in the near future..

Team Thunderbird as well :face_with_tongue:

+1

You have a 100% Microsoft/Microsoft problem and we don’t have an appropriate solution or feedback.

Sorry :sob:
