I am experiencing an issue with meeting invitations in the new Outlook and an IMAP MX plan email account.
The user receives the invitation but no item is added to the calendar, and there is no accept/decline button.
I read that this is a limitation of the new Outlook, which does not handle IMAP accounts optimally.
Is there a way to work around this without reverting to a classic Outlook version? The user already has several mailboxes on the new Outlook and everything works (Exchange 365 account and Gmail accounts).
The issue is that this user uses the new Outlook for all his mail accounts (Exchange, Gmail) and therefore wanted to add this IMAP account to the new Outlook..
Apart from moving all mail accounts to a classic Outlook I don’t see a solution. (No problem with a classic Outlook because the calendar is managed locally for IMAP mailboxes)
I even tried with a hosted Exchange account at OVH but the configuration isn’t possible; you need a Microsoft 365 Exchange account, there’s no option to choose an Exchange Server account as you can in a classic Outlook… "third‑party"
The problem is that Microsoft is leaning towards forcing the use of the new Outlook in the near future..
