SBG2 Replacement servers

My server at SBG2 got completely destroyed in the fire.
In the latest update from OVH I read that they have started to propose replacement servers.
They write info about when SBG1, 3 & 4 will be online but no exact info on when the replacements will be provided.
Does anyone know if we have to contact OVH for these replacement servers or will OVH contact us?

Same problem here, and no info. I did see that it is recommended to set up a disaster recovery plan, but I see nowhere on my interface that I can do this. Anybody have any idea?

Indeed, I don't even find the Disaster option on my account, must be higher level of support I guess.

I just called support and all they can tell me is to just wait!?
I payed for a dedicated server for a full year, not even a month ago. Payed more than 2000€.
OVH says they are providing replacements servers and are communicating transparent but that is not what they do to me. All they say is 'you have to wait'.
Support says I can buy a new one but they can not just make me a new one on the payment I already have and end the previous?

I payed with paypal and very tempted to chargeback and just go somewhere else.
Edit: Just called them and asked for a refund so I can actualy buy a new one, they told me they will see what they can do. Maybe this might help you as well.

I just purchased a new dedicated in RBX on Wednesday and added its IP to my old Backup Storage, configured new server, downloaded back up data and reconfigured server with all software that I needed. Fully back up and running by Thursday which was the most important thing.

As far as financials go, I will sort that with OVH when the time comes (don't worry about that!) but at the moment they are obviously overloaded and surely the priority is to get your data and systems back up asap?

The disaster recovery plan should have been put in place by you before the fire when you created the server. OVH won't do it for you and there is no button to activate it.

They mean whatever precautions and plan you had to back up your data and implement and rebuild/reconfig a new system with your data in a worst case scenario is what you should be doing now.

If you need a guide for getting yourself back up and running on a dedicated server lost in SBG2 and how to get your data from RBX storage see my post here:

Thank you very much for your help David, indeed the priority is to get the server back online. But seeing I am a student paying this of my student loan without many players yet, paying 2000€ again within a month is a big hole in my wallet. And I wanted them to confirm my refund or replacement server but all they can tell me is wait. If they told me what you had told me I would have already been up and running already (with a hole of 2000€ tho). Seeing that I have to work in weekends I am now unable to set up the servers again until monday, all because I did not get a simple confirmation that a refund is possible from their side.
Now I see all French servers are sold out already so guess I will have to wait anyway and watch my server population die.

That must be some project you got going there, Loius. I work for large organisations that don't spend that much on their web servers. I'm sure you will get a new server or a refund but it will probably take time, OVH must have a mountain to climb dealing with technical and billing issues right now. All I will say is part of your budget should include preparing for the worst and getting back up if the worst happens. Anyway, best of luck, I hope you get it sorted and your project doesn't suffer too much :+1:

thanks for the good wished. Well seeing this host had good reputation I decided to spend a big amount so I was steady for a while, but I wasn't expecting worst case scenario in the first month. Now I am indeed willing to buy a new one after hearing from them a refund is possible, but the type of server I look for is fully sold out now on all of their locations so it will be back to waiting.
Also I read their latest anouncement where they write about having replaced 2730 servers already wednesday and thursday, so I am positive thinking and ready to be supplied with a new one anytime, depending on if they are processing the refund or not since their communication in the tickets is not very clear.

I got their official mail now informing that the service is destroyed and I should order a new one where I will be compensated a certain times my previous bill. Of course this is good to hear but yeah a bit late since the servers sold out now. Anyway I got the information I was looking for from OVH. Sad that a ticket cant provide me that sooner. Anyway closing this one.

At least its moving in the right direction. Good luck with your project :+1:

Hello David,

Thanks for your solution. We are also part of SBG2.

We are ready to buy new server in RBX and have few Questions.

In Ovh panel , backup storage option is enabled but it shows 0 gb used from 500 gb, snapshot is attached below. Is there a possibility we will be able to recover the data in new server.

Hi Ajays,

Is that back up tab for the new server or the old one? If it's the new one, you need to go to the old server's back tab and add the IP for the new to the old server. If it's the old I'm afraid it looks like no data may have been backed up as your backup storage amont is showing zero.

Its old one. What is the solution to recover the data.

If it's the old one I'm not sure if there is any data there I'm afraid judging by the usage shown. You can check via FTP from a new server using the steps in the link above.

Thanks.

We have the same problem 0/200GB. AJAYS, did you make progress? We can see the list restore points in cloud API and OVH control panel. Still showing 0 / 200GB. Also command line lftp:ing to the storage lists only .banner and .ftpquota files. Any idea how to procees? Do we have backup or not?
Thanks for any comment anybody.

We have sent mail to ovh where we asked them if there is possibility of restoring data if we buy another server as our usage is showing 0.

As of now no revert on that from ovh, we are waiting.

Thank for your response. We bought a new server but so far we have not been able to properly access our backups. I will let you know if I come up with any breakthrough idea. The best instruction I have seen so far is list of 14 items created and referenced above by DavicC1. In case you use that action plan I would be interested in hearing do you see your backup files when using command line. As mentioned above I was able to get command line ftp access to our backup store but I dont see understandable and downloadable files there. Good luck, M0
