On my Android phone, I’ve had to keep re‑logging into the forum since today

Hi @FabL and @Asterix

On my Android phone, since today I have to log in again every time on the forum :goblin:

Could you fix this problem quickly because it’s super annoying.

Have a great day both of you

Hello @Gaston

I had to reconnect this morning, but only once and no issues since.

We'll check that, thanks for the reply!

+1

P.S. Sessions are restarted every X amount of time. I think it's an internal security procedure of Discourse.

Hello everyone,

Could you please let me know the logout times?

^FabL

I think it's not about the time, but about the devices. This morning at 8:00 I logged in from a corporate PC and it asked for credentials. At noon I logged in from my mobile browser, and now I just logged in from home (laptop) and on all three devices it requested credentials.

I think it has to do with maximum_session_age, if I remember correctly it has a default duration of about two months.

Regards.

Hello everyone

I’m on a long walk, and from time to time I check the messages on the forum.

Usually I never have to log in again even from the previous day.

Today it’s a disaster. I will be unable to tell the times when I logged in.

I should note that I’m still using the same device, namely my Android phone.

Hello everyone
Same for me: I reconnected on my PC and on mobile, but only once and didn't need to do it again.
I was aware that you need to reconnect at regular intervals.

Same here,

Either the session expires after 12 h or 24 h
or the session expires when I close the browser (*)

Something has changed on OVH's side, that's for sure.

(*) Firefox on Windows 11
option: clear browsing data when exiting the browser
but I have set exceptions for certain trusted sites, notably for community.ovhcloud.com, for which the data must be preserved.

Thanks @fritz2cat

I just performed the steps for the VIVALDI browser.

I'll see how it goes.

But... something has changed on the Forum, because the problem has persisted since yesterday on my Android FIREFOX.

Same problem for me today: I visited the forum several times and had to log in each time on Firefox on PC.
However, on mobile I didn't need to log in on each visit, and I'm using Android Chrome.

Thanks @fritz2cat
I have allowed data and cookies for this site and it seems to be stable; I didn't have to log in again after each visit and closing the browser.
We'll see if it holds.

On VIVALDI it still doesn’t work.

Since several of us have encountered the issue, it means an unfortunate action occurred on this forum by OVH.

Yes, there was probably something changed on OVH’s side.

Come on @FabL, a little activity for your back‑to‑school :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello everyone,

We are not reproducing the phenomenon.

Could you point me to other examples with dates and times, the bones used, and when it occurs? (Are you in a particular location, is it after a specific action? etc...)

^FabL

Hello,

We discussed with our identity provider who told me they haven't made any changes recently.

On the application side, we deployed the latest major release on 07/09, without any changes to authentication.

I've been trying to reproduce it since this morning on my iPhone on 5G but I can't.

I log in, browse the forum, close my browser, and when I return an hour later I'm still logged in. So I'm having a hard time reproducing, especially since I can see the sticky‑cookie + the forum's session cookie

I still have the problem.

By following the DNS query trace when accessing the forum, we see:

<1697526538.rsc.cdn77.org>

<community-beta-uploads.s3.eu-west-par.io.cloud.ovh.net>

<s3.eu-west-par.io.cloud.ovh.net>

Does this mean that these names need to be added to the list of sites for which cookies and history should be kept?

Hello @FabL and @Incognito

Okay, I'll try to note all that.

Maybe this version is the one screwing things up.

Yes, that might be a clue because I also work on another Discourse forum where I don't have this problem, but they are still on 2026.7.2 and here it's 2026.8.0.

On my side, yesterday it started again, forcing me to reconnect after every browser closure.

Today I logged in only once; it seems random—one day it's fine, the next day it's not. It's really hard to pinpoint the cause.

I just got logged out (Firefox, w11)
